Prince Edward Island, Canada Travel Guide

Prince Edward Island, Canada
Prince Edward Island is one of most beautiful provinces that you will
ever get a chance to see in Canada. Many who have read literature as a
child will remember L.M. Montgomery’s book – Avonlea in which a young
orphan was taken in by a brother and sister and cared for. The movie –
which was based on the book – was filmed at Prince Edward Island and
since then it has brought many people and tourists to its shores to see the
beauty of the Island up close and to take in all of its beauty.
There are many things to do and many things to see while in Prince
Edward Island. Its rolling hills and the beautiful ocean that surround it
are but a taste of what to expect when you first glimpse at it. One of
the best places to visit is the Confederation Trail. The Confederation
Trail allows visitors to explore the vastness of the land and the
diverse environment. It is built on what was PEI’s former railway line and
since 1994 government officials have been working hard to make it better.
From the train you can view the amazing landscapes. From the native
forest to the wetlands and the quaint villages that are scattered around
the area you will get a chance to see the true side of PEI and its
culture. It is exciting and much more inviting than if you were to drive
around in your car.
PEI even has tours of Avonlea – which was re-built as it was described
in the books. There you can take a horse drawn carriage see the
infamous schoolhouse in which Miss Maud taught her class. You can also visit
the Long River Church that was built in 1882 and view the different
variety shows that are rehearsed up for your enjoyment.
